This two-day experiential course in Nepali Jhankri-Shamanic healing provides an authentic introduction to the living tradition of the Dhami-Jhankri, Nepal's shamanic practitioners. Drawing on centuries-old Nepal-Himalayan wisdom, the program explores the relationship between humans and the Pancha Mahabhutas—the five great elements: Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jal), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu), and Ether (Akash/Space). Participants learn about the Jhankri’s worldview, where elemental spirits are respected as conscious forces that guide healing, balance, and spiritual growth. Using hand gestures (mudras) and sacred instruments, shamans invoke, harmonise, and communicate with these elemental energies, supporting holistic well-being and spiritual resilience.
Day 1 introduces the mythic and historical origins of the Dhami-Jhankri lineage, tracing the transmission of shamanic knowledge through oral tradition, apprenticeship, and direct spiritual experience. The program emphasises the relationship with the Pancha Mahabhutas, each regarded as a living presence in the universe and the body. Through guided practice, participants learn to recognise each element's qualities and connect with them using breath, focus, visualisation, and traditional objects such as the Dhyangro (frame drum), Ghanti (bell), and other ritual objects. The day focuses on elemental invocation: calling upon Earth-Prithvi for grounding, Jal for emotional flow, Agni for transformation, Vayu for clarity, and Akash for spiritual expansion, while fostering respectful relationships with the spirits of these elements.
Day 2 focuses on the sacred language of mudras—ritual hand gestures Dhami-Jhankris use to channel elemental energies, protect ritual space, and invite healing spirits. Participants receive step-by-step guidance on foundational gestures for protection, invocation, and energy transmission. The course outlines the structure of a healing ritual, beginning with intuitive sensing and attunement to subtle energies, progressing into trance states through rhythmic drumming and chanting (Mantra), and incorporating mudras to direct and anchor healing intent. Ethical conduct, humility, and respect for the lineage and spirits are emphasised throughout.
The program culminates in a multi-level collective healing ceremony, creating the ground Rekhi-Mandal as a recipient portal focused on release and renewal, with successive empowerment and protection. This is followed by group reflection and discussion on integrating these ancestral practices thoughtfully and responsibly into daily life, or integrating them into basic healing contexts. By the end of the course, participants gain a practical understanding of the Dhami-Jhankri path, grounded in the wisdom of the Pancha Mahabhutas, empowered by ritual, and attuned to nature's cycles.
This experiential course is open to anyone interested in shamanic healing and related practices.
Note: The full course will be translated into French in real time.
